The story goes that the eighteenth-century owner of Chateau Lanessan didn't enter his wines into the 1855 Paris Universal Exhibition as he felt that they already had an excellent reputation. Little did he know that the best wines exhibited became those set-out in the 1855 Classification, cementing the reputation of Bordeaux's best chateaux ever since. Lanessan is now relatively unknown and provides great value. The second wine of Chateau Lanessan, this is deeply scented with earthy red fruits and herbs. Full-bodied, sweet, lush red berry notes, bright and sweetly spiced. Drink now and over the next five years.
