Petit & Gros Manseng
75cl * 13% ABV * South West, France
The eagle-eyed among you will instantly spot why this wine seemed to call to us from across the room at a recent tasting of the Vindependents' range: the fact that our beloved Taurus H Van 'Brigitte' was emblazened on the bottle's label (albeit in green) is surely a good omen. This is bone-dry and fragrant as a spring meadow with fresh, grassy notes, as well as the usual waxy, saline characteristics you'd expect from Jurancon Sec.
Despite the appellation contending to have been the first officially recognised AOC in France, Jurancon has somewhat fallen from grace and, accordingly, now provides some of the best value wines in the country. A suitable bedfellow to goats cheese, grilled white meats and green salads.
