Weissburgunder
75cl * 12.5% ABV * Wagram, Austria
The Ecker-Eckhof estate is located in the Mitterstockstall commune in Wagram and the 14-hectares of land has been farmed by the same family for over 400 years. Weissburgunder is perhaps better known as Pinot Blanc and here is offers an exotic combination of ripe citrus and tropical fruit (lemons, grapefruit and pineapple). There's a lovely texture to the tangy, fruit-forward palate, but also plenty of crisp acidity to keep the freshness in check. We'd drink this with mild cheeses or lightly smoked fish dishes or chowder.
