Marsala is made in a process similar to Sherry, that is in a solera system - these fortified wines were historically made in order to withstand long-distance sea travel. Golden amber in colour, it shows intense notes of dried fruit, almonds and subtle oak nuances. Deliciously sweet, it is traditionally served as an aperitif and has an affinity with fruit pastries or cheeses. Alternatively, it can be used to make zabaglione and tiramisu.
