We visited Tomás Postigo a few years ago and fell in love with this deep, smooth wine - and not just because the winemaking team treated us to a full roast lamb feast in their warehouse to accompany our wine tasting. The meal only came to an end as Eduardo, his son, had to dash off to drive the few hours to Madrid where his wife was going into labour!
Bright and deep with a beautiful cherry-red colour, there's a great range of aromas including aromatic herbs, summer red fruits, strawberry, redcurrant, cherry, fully ripe black fruit and hardwood, as well as notes of mint, cider, pine, fennel, black liquorice, cocoa, toast and dry leaves. On the palate it's intense with fresh acidity and great balance. Outstanding and persistent tannins. Lovely long finish.
