Owned by Waterkloof Estate founder Paul Boutinot, False Bay vineyards aim to make 'real' wine affordable. Remarkably - for the price - these are sustainable wines made with minimal intervention, bottled at site and crafted from mature vineyards. What this means in layman's terms is that you get a lot of bang for your buck. Dried herbaceous notes, including fennel and anise come from nearby shrubland surrounding the vines. This is followed by a creamy lemon character accented by complex bready notes from a long and slow wild yeast fermentation. A crowd-friendly white wine that's as great with a roast chicken as it is with simply roasted vegetables.
