Piquepoul Noir

There are only 250 acres of Piquepoul (Picpoul) Noir left in the world, but this grape variety has been grown in the Southern France for centuries - for the ampelography nerds out there, it is one of the 13 permitted varieties in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This is a great alternative to Provence pink: with tart summer berries and ripe peaches, crushed rose petals and dried herbs, it has plenty of citrussy acidity on its crisp, dry finish. A super wine for summer (or remembering summers gone or sunnier days to come)!
