"Only one quality - the finest," so goes the Veuve Clicquot motto. Yellow Label has become an instantly recognisable sign of quality and is a much-loved Champagne brand throughout the world. Madame Clicquot took over the family business age 27 when her husband died - being a widow ("veuve"), she was permitted to run her own business, the only women allowed to do so in French society at the time.
This was one of the first styles of rose Champagne, having been made in 1818 by simply adding a small percentatge of red wine to the usual white wine blend. This technique has become the classic Champenoise method of producing pink fizz. Veuve Clicquot is notable for its use of blending wines that have spent considerable time ageing in their cellars to create more complex, rich and full-flavoured wines. Brimming with ripe summer berries and citrus, this is a style of rose Champagne who prefer their fizz full and fruity.
