Merlot * 75cl * Vegan * 14% ABV * Central Valley, Chile
Santa Digna was the name of the wayside crosses outside a property in Spain. These crosses were used to mark boundaries, symbolising good luck and protection for those setting out for remote lands. And so, ine one of those far off lands, they were used to name Miguel Torres first property in Chile and the first wine produced from this land.
Merlot is a grape variety that has adapted to Chile with great success. Following several years of experimentation, the producers decided to introduce plantations into several climates, from the torrid coastal strip to the coolest of areas, Río Claro. By blending these diferent origins they've created a Merlot with great aromatic intensity; plum and blackberry jam mixed with spicy hints of vanilla and liquorice. A very attractive and elegant palate, enriched with toasted notes acquired through its oak ageing and a long aftertaste with lingering spices.
