Syrah, Grenache * 75cl * 14.5% ABV * Languedoc, France
Chateau Puech-Haut has quietly made a name for itself as one of the top estates in the Languedoc, offering superb value entry level and premium quality cuvees. Jancis Robinson recently waxed lyrical about their rose (which we also stock) and now it's turn for Jeb Dunnock to rave about this, their Prestige Rouge label. Based on a blend of old vine Grenache and Syrah fermented and aged in concrete, this is dense and powerful, full of dark fruit, spice, black pepper and wild herbs. Goes well with traditional Sunday roasts, game birds and rich offal-based dishes. Whilst it will improve with a little time in bottle, we nevertheless suggest that this is decanted to enjoy its full potential!
