Garnacha * 75cl * 14.5% ABV * Campo de Borja, Spain
Established in 2001, Bodegas Borsao is a collection of three progressive co-operative cellars in the southeast of Rioja. Grapes come from 620 member growers covering a whopping 2,500 hectares - nearly a third of the region's total - where Garnacha thrives. The entry-level Borsao has long been our go-to for good value, easy drinking, however the co-operative is becoming known for its more premium, award-winning wines, such as the Tres Picos.
This is dark cherry in colour, with a bouquet of mature red fruits and floral aromas typical of the best Garnacha. Rich and well-structured on the palate, showing blackberry, strawberry and leather flavours, as well as a vanilla/smoke/treacle tang from the oak. This is generous, with sweet, soft tannins. Ideal with smoky barbecued lamb.
