Pinot Noir * 75cl * 12.5% ABV * Burgundy, France
The Clos des Gatsulards vineyard is situated on a steep, south-facing slope with good sun exposure and, due to its higher positions, has a slightly windier location that creates almost perfect growing conditions for this wine. After the difficulties of 2012, the Burgundian vignerons were hoping for an easier vintage, however 2013 was not without its own problems - nevertheless, it is considered a successful vintage. The wine is matured in 30% new oak for 18 months. Deeply coloured with the characteristic dark cherry hue of red Burgundy, showing aromas of liquorice, red berries and violets and the lifted perfume of rose petals. Soft and textural, this is right in its drinking window, pairing beautifully with duck, mushroom risotto or soft cheeses.
