Albarino * 75cl * Vegan * 12.5% ABV * Galicia, Spain
A classic Albarino from Rias Baixas in Galicia, Spain’s wetter, greener north-west corner. Albarino is currently considered Spain’s greatest white grape and Rias Baixas is home to this crisp, fresh, citrus-and-apple scented grape. Genetically related to Riesling, Albarino shares the same racy, lively quality as Riesling but is bone dry. Really – there is no such thing as a sweet Albarino from Rias Baixas. This is perfect wine to try for lovers of classic, bone dry European wines such as Chablis or Soave – and Rias Baixas Albarino is very much regarded as a classic European wine style by now.
To keep the wine bone-dry, fresh and racy, this is fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks only – very simple winemaking, but exactly right to display all the qualities of this grape. The Palacio de Fefinanes estate itself dates back to the 1920’s and is certainly amongst the leaders of the DOC – this is their ‘standard’ cuvee and like Riesling, it can certainly be drunk young and fresh, but will also take a touch of age to develop further flavour complexity.
"Very fresh and classy. Aromatic white flowers, green fruit and pineapple. Lemon curd, zesty charm, rich supple palate, balanced by gentle grip and fine mineral notes with a salty hint. Long fresh finish" Decanter Magazine
