Wine Tastings
Cousino Macul Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Chile)
This delicious Sauvignon Blanc shows aromas of freshly cut lemon, grapefruit and granny smiths and ripe, harmonious fruit on the palate with flavours of grapefruit and guava. The crisp acidity and vibrant flavours make this wine great on it's own or an ideal match for thai food, shellfish or seafood salads.
De Bortoli Willowglen Semillon Chardonnay 2008 (Australia)
'No other country could produce a wine with so much flavour and character at this price. Light to medium yellow green, it has suprisingly tangy-lemon aromas that reappear in abundance in the tangy-tropical fruit of the palate which has good acidity and length.' James Halliday
Errazuriz Estate Merlot 2008 (Chile)
A lively purplish-red in colour, with a clean, fragrant nose showing aromas of red fruits, spice, and balsamic notes that blend harmoniously with toast, caramel, and vanilla notes from the oak aging. The medium-bodied palate features soft, sweet tannins, good structure, and flavours that confirm the nose and reveal a wine that is flavourful, fresh, and friendly with excellent persistence.
Paarl Heights Chenin Blanc 2009 (South Africa)
The region of Paarl is named after the black rocks that glisten like pearls after the rain. This chenin is a festival of bright, white-peach fruit with deliciously intense, floral aromas and fresh vibrant acidity
Cavit Pinot Grigio Rose 2009 (Italy)
Not many people realise that Pinot Grigio is actually a red (well pinkish) grape, so making a rose from it is relatively simple. As the craze for all things Pinot Grigio continues, look out for the arrival of sparkling Pinot Grigio rose in the Summer.
Decanter Brush
A brilliantly designed soft tipped brush that allows cleaning of stubbon deposits without scratching the glass.
Half Bottle Domaine Daulny Sancerre 2008 (Loire, France)
A great Sancerre made by legendary producer Etienne Daulny from grapes grown on 40-year-old Sauvignon Blanc vines; this Sancerre captures the essence of the grape with floral, flinty/ mineral aromas (think warm wet slate) and grapefruit, white peach flavours on the palate. The combination of bright acidity and fruit but no overpowering flavours means that this is a great wine to have with almost any white fish dishes.
Moore's Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (Australia)
Intense colour with purple hues, the nose demonstrates aromas of black cherries and wild berries and some spice. The palate is intense and rich with dark plum and firm tannins. A fruit driven style with no obvious oak overpowering the fruit.
Grant Burge Benchmark Shiraz 2008 (Australia)
Ripe plums, red berry fruits and spice is complimented by vanilla and subtle musk.
Gonzalez Byass Tio Pepe Sherry 37.5cl
Aged in the Soleria System for over four years, the fino is a pale, straw coloured wine with a delicate almondy bouquet. Minimal acidity and very dry and light on the palate.
