Pinot Grigio Principato 2009(Italy)
Pale straw in colour, with a subtle aroma of lemongrass, wildflowers and a crisp limey palate, Pinot Grigio is a very safe choice for a party or wedding as its middle of the road character tends to appeal to everyone. Known locally as ‘Surrey Water’ owing to the fact we sell more of this than we do mineral water!
Soave Classico Monteforte 2009 (Italy)
The traditional Garganega grape is blended with the rare but highly prized Trebbiano di Soave, which improves both the fruit flavours and the aromas of the finished blend. Dry, yet with soft acidity and a round almond flavoured palate.
Ponte Pietra Trebbiano Garganega 2009 (Italy)
Very fresh on the nose with lightly floral notes, especially the characteristic almond blossom perfumes found in the best whites from this area.
Trebbiano is a grape that often struggles to whip up any enthusiasm from us, but here, married with Garganega it produces a wine or really good value. A blend of 60% Trebbiano and 40% Garganega, it has soft fresh apple fruit on the palate, with a clean zesty finish.
Named as one of the Wines of the Month in Decanter Magazine who said it was: "One of the best affordable wines to snap up and drink now."
Gran Sasso Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 2008 (Italy)
Made by a young (well my age) winemaker called Marco Flacco, the wines of Gran Sasso display the cleaness of fruit and freshness of flavour that is seldom found in this region. This Trebbiano is deliberately made from the more acidic fruit of cooler vineyards which gives the final wine freshness and a clean minerality and bite.
Botter Pinot Grigio 'La Casada' 2008(Italy)
A creamy, soft and full-bodied Pinot Grigio with a nice, limey freshness and good citric finish
La Battistina Gavi 2009 (Italy)
Aromatic, zesty nose with apple, lime and kiwi notes and a hint of minerality. Juicy, weighty fruit with a zippy, citric acid mouthwatering feel creating a refreshing, satisfying finish.
Delicious with appetisers and light fish courses.

Donnafugata's Polena 2008 (Sicily)
A blend of 50% Catarratto (a native Sicilian grape) and 50% Viognier. Although slightly green when young, this wine quickly turns a bright golden colour with aromas of mineral, acacia, lemon/lime citrus notes and tropical fruits. Quite full on the palate but with ore of the citrus flavours helping keep the wine fresh.
Goes well with both fish/fishcakes and shellfish, risottos and roasted vegetables. The 'signature dish' designed for the winery to go with this wine is a courgette flan with a red pepper sauce.
Polena is the Italian for the figurehead that hangs over a ship's bow. Italian Polenas were always female and were supposed to be magical and bring the boat luck. The winemaker/owner at Donnafugata is married to Jose Rallo who is one of Italy's best Jazz singers. As a result of this their marketing has become intertwined with her singing and she has even composed a song to match each of their wines.
Antinori Donato 75cl(Italy)
Great served with Biscotti (small crispy Italian bread-like biscuits) that can be dipped in it.
Pieropan Soave Classico 2009 (Italy)
A rich slightly spicy long and complex flavoured Soave, made by the fanatical Nino Pieropan, who is obsessive about the wine "from the moment I pick up my secateurs to the time the cork goes in the bottle".
The switch to screw caps may be revolutionary (for Soave), but the wine's as thrilling as ever: a peppery white with beautiful freshness and balance."

Inama Vulcaia Apres Vino Dolce 2006 (Italy) 37.5cl
A fascinating sweet wine, flavours of the orange marmalade and honey botrytis character. A blend of 40% Semillon and 60% Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc. Fantastic when served with a blue cheese like Stilton or Roquefort.
