De Bortoli Willowglen Shiraz Cabernet 2008 (Australia)
This super smooth and berried sligthly spicy oaked red is always a popular crowd pleaser.
Moore's Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (Australia)
Intense colour with purple hues, the nose demonstrates aromas of black cherries and wild berries and some spice. The palate is intense and rich with dark plum and firm tannins. A fruit driven style with no obvious oak overpowering the fruit.
Grant Burge Benchmark Shiraz 2008 (Australia)
Ripe plums, red berry fruits and spice is complimented by vanilla and subtle musk.
Yalumba Organics Shiraz 2006 (Australia)
The wine is crimson red and offers aromas of plum, cherry, mulberry and violets with forest floor fragrances. A medium bodied wine delivering flavours of plum, all spice, blueberries and hints of almond kernal. This wine with its plush soft tannins and bright juicy finish is ready to drink now or enjoy over the next three years. Suitable for vegans
Capel Vale Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (Western Australia)
We have always had a soft spot for this winery as Rupert helped them out there with a vintage a scary 11 years ago!
Established and still owned by Peter Pratten, a former professor of medicine at Harvard, the winery has been known for being cutting edge e.g. It was the first winery in Western Oz to be able bottle in screwcap.
"One of the most improved and impressive producers in Western Australia. This wine is sourced from some quality Margaret River vineyards. It translates into this exceptionally good wine of poise and effortless length and persistence. Aromas of blackcurrants and mint with a palate of pure essency concentrated cabernet juice supported with fine ripe tannins and light cedary oak. Polished expression of the variety."
92 points- Ray Jordan - Western Australia Wine Guide 2010
Yalumba 'The Scribbler' 2006 (Barossa Valley, Australia)
This is a great big ripe Barossa Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon blend. At 14.5% certainly not for the faint hearted. Despite the power there is great subtlety and complexity of flavour: mocha, spice, cedar and minty eucalyptus
Yalumba Menzies The Cigar 2006 (Coonawarra,Australia)
The Menzies Cabenet was planted in 1975 and 1994 and "The Cigar"is tended to be sourced from the younger plantings.Deep magenta in colour with a nose of full intensity, the Cigar 2006 is a brooding wine showing leather, dark chocolate and high tones of cassis and ju-jube fruit pastilles. The palate surprises as it is now the brute the nose suggests.. It is medium bodied wine with fruit flavours of dark cherries and blackberries, the tannins are silky and in harmony with the fruit to a lingering finish. Goes well with roast duck with all the trimmings.
Yalumba The Signature 2004 (Australia)
Once upon a time about 20 years ago in a kingdom far, far away there was a magnificent marble castle with a king, queen and 3 princesses. The king though was very unhappy. His business was not going well with sales in decline. The King slipped out of the castle and made his way to Adelaide. Here, he hoped to find Three Wise Men who could help him with his business and in time become Directors. First he found Brenton Fry, an experienced traveller of the world with a vast array of international wine contacts and a penchant for computers, gadgets and cars. To Brenton he gave the import export business. Next he recruited John Auld, a respected sales and marketing type, possessing a strategic and methodical mind at odds with his passion for horse racing and golf. To John he gave sales and marketing. Finally he discovered Brian Walsh, a gifted winemaker well regarded in the industry for his palate, personality and public speaking. He gave Brian winemaking, production, conservation and the environment. Overjoyed with his success a very happy King returned to his castle. The business became much better and everyone thought it was Christmas!
