Los Gansos Pinot Noir 2013
(Central Valley, Chile)

Los Gansos Pinot Noir 2013
(Central Valley, Chile)

Los Gansos (the geese) are a symbol of the many ways that Cono Sur is doing things the natural way. Together with a number of friendly insects, the wild geese help to keep the pests and parasites away from the vine, just as nature intended. This attention to detail during all aspects of the winemaking process ensures tha Cono Sur wines are full of fresh and vibrant fruit flavours. This single varietal Pinot Noir has rich notes of cherry, plum and strawberry that are enhanced by subtle smoky hints.

Saladini Pilastri Falerio 2013
(Italy)

Saladini Pilastri Falerio 2013

We think that Falerio is almost too good to be true, given the amount of flavour you get for this price. Based on the Trebbiano grape with healthy splashes of other interesting local varieties Pecorino (just like the cheese) and Passerina.

Floral on the nose with apple, lemon oil, lime, pear and faint herbal notes, the initial delicacy on the palate hides surprising body with a lovely freshness and an almond like finish. It’s ideal with white meats or fish, and pasta. Certified organic.

Tabali Viognier 2013
(Limari Valley, Chile)

Tabali Viognier 2013
(Limari Valley, Chile)

Tabali has only been around since 2003, but its wines received great accolades from the word go. The vineyard is in one of the northernmost (and hence theoretically warmest) regions in Chile, but this region's local 'Camanchaca' fog blankets the area each morning and afternoon coastal breezes bring cool air. Both help bring out the more delicate flavours in the fruit.

"The promising Tabali in Limari is coming out with an exciting range of styles such as the peachy and zesty-fresh Tabali Viognier."
Anthony Rose, The Independant.

Lemon straw in colour with green hues. Lifted honeysuckle, lemon rind, apricot and peach mixed with hints of cahew and freshly turned earth deliver a complex and funky aroma. The palate is rich and textured. A luscious wine with layers of spice, citrus and apricot, showing the distinct characters of varietal Viognier which persist through to a lovely fresh finish. Enjoy with spicy Asian cuisine.

Château Beauchene 'Premier Terroir' 2011, Côtes du Rhône
(Rhône, France)

Château Beauchene 'Premier Terroir' 2011, Côtes du Rhône
(Rhône, France)

From a vineyard immediately bordering the area of Chateauneuf-du-Pape's appellation, between the communes or Orange and Chateauneuf-du-Pape (all that separates this field and Chateauneuf-du-Pape is a main road.) Significantly it has the same Galet stones (large round potato sized pebbles) which give Chateauneuf its unique character as they absorb sunlight during the day and release heat at night bringing on the ripening of the grapes.

Beauchene isn't completely organic but practises "agriculture raisonnee", a philosophy of production that guarantees a top quality product whilst at the same time ensuring a better respect of the environment, through the use of traditional techniques; horse ploughing, hand harvesting and hand sorting by each grape-picker.

Deep ruby in colour with aromas of ripe red fruits and bilberries which continue as red fruit flavours on the palate that develop to hints of raspberries and blackcurrant.

We also have some Magnums of the wonderful 2009 vintage, so do get in touch if you would like to reserve any of this lovely stuff...!

Domaine de l'Aumonier Cuvee Henri Touraine Chenin Blanc 2011
(Loire Valley, France)

Domaine de l'Aumonier Cuvee Henri Touraine Chenin Blanc 2011
(Loire Valley, France)

Made organically from vines over thirty years old (older vines producing fewer but more concentrated grapes) this wine is a perennial favourite.

It is a very lightly oaked Chenin Blanc with a clean, creamy scent of dried apricots, almonds, pears, honey, mango and vanilla. Rich on the palate with hints of quince yet beautifully fresh.

Weingut Sepp Moser, Grüner Veltliner Gebling 2011
(Kremstal, Austria)

Weingut Sepp Moser, Grüner Veltliner Gebling 2011
(Kremstal, Austria)

Sepp Moser were one of the first Austrian wine estates to convert to not just organic but biodynamic viticulture. Try the results - we think they speak for themselves.

A crisp and aromatic dry white with lovely sweet floral and fresh apple notes on the nose, repeated on the palate with a little spice and citrus / lemon flavours. A soft and creamy mouthfeel with a mineral finish.

Best drink within 4 years of the vintage.

Monthelie 2009, Pascal Roblet-Monnot
(Burgundy, France)

Monthelie 2009, Pascal Roblet-Monnot
(Burgundy, France)

One of the smallest of the Côte de Beaune red wine villages, Monthelié is situated just to the back of Meursault. Like that famous white wine village, Monthelié makes a robust yet gentle and approachable wine, winning many fans for its sheer drinkability. Pascal Roblet-Monnet makes approximately 600 bottles of this wine per year, at quite ridiculous low yields (often less than 30 hectolitres per hectares – grand cru style yields!) in a fully organic way: all his vineyards are still ploughed manually with a horse, in fact. It’s hard to talk about “value for money” with £25 bottles of wine, but given the cost of many of this wine’s near neighbours, not to mention the attention to detail that Pascal gives to all his winemaking, this is probably as close to value for money as you can get for small domaine red Burgundy.
